It turns out the president wants you to build “that” after all. Inspired by Joey Hudy’s marshmallow cannon at the 2012 White House Science Fair, the Obama administration has announced the first-ever White House Maker Faire.

According to the White House, the Maker Faire will be “an opportunity to highlight both the remarkable stories of Makers like Joey and commitments by leading organizations to help more students and entrepreneurs get involved in making things.”

In a stunning reversal, President Obama actually wants students and entrepreneurs to take credit for building something themselves. Makers are invited to submit photos and videos of their creations to the White House, accompanied by the #IMadeThis hashtag, like this:
