Plenty Of Artists Use Colored Pencils, But This Creator’s Approach Is Totally Unique

When it comes to medium of choice, plenty of artists will tell you that pencils — monochromatic or otherwise — are their favorites. The level of detail that you can achieve with these pointed beauties is top-notch, which is why artistic realists the world over swear by them. While most simply sharpen their tools of the trade and put them to paper, this creator takes a less conventional approach. Printer Turns Photos Into 3D Objects So The Blind Can Relive Memories.

Is there a way for those without sight to relive memories captured in a photograph? That was the question Pirate3D asked when they initiated their Touchable Memories experiment. The initiative aims to help the blind physically re-experience visual memories using 3D printers. The Singapore-based company uses 3D printers in this project to create sculptures from photographs. This Artist’s Inspirational Mission Redefines The Concepts Of Shame And Memory

Art is often thought about from the perspective of the viewer. It makes sense, because viewership is the practice of many, and creation is the practice of relatively few. But let’s take a step back and consider the fact that creative work lives a long, unseen life before it ends up in front of us. By Taking Apart Watches, These Collaborating Artists Made Something Cooler.

Artist and miniature-maker Dan Tanenbaum has a fascination with the inner workings of watches. He could obsess over the tiny components in the timepieces for days. He describes himself as an “avid, if not obsessive” watch collector. In addition, he collects the discarded pieces of vintage watches and gives new life to each of the pieces.  At first, he started making cufflinks decorated with watch gears arranged to look like tiny motorcycles. (As a lover of watches, he only uses broken and discarded watch components, and never breaks apart functioning watches.) […]

This Artist Creates Gorgeous Sculptures That Blend Animals And Nature.

These sculptures by Chinese artist Wang Ruilin would be impressive solely based on their near life-sized and incredibly detailed depictions of whales, deer, oxen and more, but he adds an extra dash of surrealism. Each animal features elements of nature blending into their bodies. Rocks, landforms and clouds emerge from their backs and antlers to create a dreamlike vision of coexistence. Ruilin explained that he is largely influenced by traditional Chinese artists, like Xu Belhong whose paintings of horses made a particular impact on Ruilin as a child.  Wang Ruilin Wang Ruilin […]
