‘It’s inexcusable’! Fed-up citizen details her ‘Obamacare nightmare’

It may not be dominating the news these days, but rest assured: Obamacare still sucks as much as ever.
Here’s today’s reminder, courtesy of tweeter Brittany Cover:
My Obamacare nightmare has literally left me in tears. I never knew I could have this miserable of an experience trying to get healthcare.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
I started my process on JUNE 17th. Still don't have insurance officially, still can't get the prescriptions I need to walk without pain.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
I can't imagine what it's like for someone with a life-threatening condition. Mine is just chronic pain.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
No one has been any help. Insurance company doesn't communicate with exchange, exchange has messed everything up.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
And everyone treats you like you're some kind of idiot for not understanding the intricacies of the field. Just an utter nightmare.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
It's been three months. I am literally hoarding what's left of my steroids and deciding which days I can endure the pain.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
All because I have no idea when the next time I can get meds is going to be. I have been in tears begging for answers. No one has any.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
I knew in my gut on principle that this wasn't the answer for the issues in the healthcare market. Living it out has been hell.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
I have a folder and have been compiling all the different answers that I have been given trying to navigate this.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
I can't imagine how someone who isn't type-A like I am handles this nightmare.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
No sympathy, no kindness when I say I have been trying to navigate this since June. Just "oh". OH? Seriously? That's it?
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Each time I try and figure this stuff out I get a different answer, and I am what feels farther and farther away from getting coverage.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Do none of these people ever talk to each other? No one ever has the same answer to the same question or knows how their system works.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
"Oh the address must be wrong." Nope, you sent my hubby his stuff, where the heck is mine?
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Irony that I am the one who signed my husband up and he (without any preexisting conditions) has his card and coverage in tact, yet I don't.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
@bccover Sorry you are going through this, what a nightmare
— Phelony Jones (@phelony_jones) September 19, 2014
@phelony_jones it's just so annoying at this point. I just want my damn pills! LOL.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
It's inexcusable that I select a plan on June 17th, 2014 and I still don't have coverage on Sept 19th, 2014.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
And no one ever calls me back or follows up. I have to call about once a week to urge them to help me.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Thankfully I work from home and can sit on the phone for a few hours once a week while these people start the process all over again.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Most people can't sit on the phone for this long weekly trying to sort this all out.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
"Can I order an insurance card from you then so I can get my scripts?" "We sent them on the 16th" "But my husband got his on the 13th"
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
"Well it's in the mail, we sent it on the 16th" "I hear you, but can you understand after all I've been through why I wouldn't trust that?"
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
"My computer says we sent it on the 16th, ma'm." *smacks phone on the counter*
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
All she had to do was let me order it and call it a day. Also, I knew about some basic healthcare stuff more than she did.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
That was awfully terrifying. Healthcare via a call center is basically the worst idea anyone could ever come up with.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
So now I get to wait another week for my insurance card to not get here, before calling again next week and doing this dance all over again.
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
Godspeed, Brittany.
So in short, Obamacare blows. But you most likely already knew that. Happy thought: it's the weekend!
— Brittany Cover (@bccover) September 19, 2014
So there’s that …
