“[W]e will stop it in its tracks.”

That tweet, from CDC director Thomas Frieden, way posted waaaay back on October 1st. Things look rather different now that Ebola has spread to two health care workers who treated “patient zero” Thomas Duncan.

Here are eight more Ebola tweets that Frieden and the CDC probably regret:

We need to do everything for this person who is fighting for his life. We know how to stop #Ebola & we will stop it here.

@SaharaPeters CDC has protocols in place to protect against further spread of disease.

@Medtaz165 Any US hospital following CDC's infection control recommendations can safely manage a patient w/ #Ebola.

— CDC (@CDCgov) October 1, 2014

US has had international travelers who got deadly viruses similar to #Ebola, and none spread the disease to others here.

— CDC (@CDCgov) October 1, 2014

CDC’s surge response means we are taking no chances, leaving no stone unturned, until 100% sure #Ebola virus contained. #CDCchat

— Dr. Tom Frieden (@DrFriedenCDC) October 2, 2014

The big picture is that the U.S. #Ebola case is a reflection of the epidemic in W. Africa. We’ll stop it here.

— Dr. Tom Frieden (@DrFriedenCDC) October 1, 2014

It’s not impossible that there could be add’l #Ebola cases associated w/ US patient in coming weeks, but I am confident we will contain it.

— Dr. Tom Frieden (@DrFriedenCDC) September 30, 2014

We wonder if he’s still so confident.
