These Parents’ Reaction To Their Little Girl’s Behavior Is Heartbreakingly Perfect.

Michaelynn isn’t like normal little girls. She can’t communicate with others, she’s wary of strangers and she can’t even say three simple words to her parents: I love you. She is only three years-old but that isn’t the reason for her silence. She has autism. A photographer named Clay Lomneth did his best to document the day-to-day life of Michaelynn and her family, something that most families might not be able to understand. The resulting series of images took five months to make. It will break your heart, but it’s also indescribably wonderful.

Since Michaelynn’s parents, Trevor and Erica Sanchez, can’t speak to her like a normal child, they often wonder what she is thinking.

But even though they can’t be sure she’s heard a word they’ve said, they know she loves them.

She finds little ways to tell them that.

Clay spends most of his free time with the family, so he gets a glimpse into a life that many don’t get to see.

The parents say it’s like having an infant all of the time. They always have to be on guard.

Trying to read Michaelynn’s worried mind is stressful for Trevor and Erica.

She can’t say when she is hungry, upset or tired…

Instead, all Michaelynn can do is react.

And when she does, her loving parents are there for her.

Although their life is stressful, it’s also full of magical moments, like when Michaelynn was being hung upside down by her father, a sensation she loves.

Being carried around upside down is one of her favorite things.

But even though her parents know how to make her happy, sometimes it’s a struggle to calm her down.

There are many times when she cries and they just don’t know what to do.

Trevor and Erica try to enjoy time to themselves, but it’s a rarity.

No matter how she looks to outsiders, Michaelynn is a curious and playful little girl.

A sign hangs in their house, warning others (and medical professionals and rescue workers) that a child with autism lives there.

Who knows how she really sees the world.

No matter what problems this couple faces, they still know how to be silly and loving.

During the project, the family moved to a new apartment and everyone had to do some adjusting, not just Michaelynn.

The whole world amazes this little girl.

She has learned to entertain herself, like other children do. One of her favorite activities is to toss herself around.

As the years go on, Trevor and Erica will learn more and more about what their little girl is thinking.

Although, they will always be certain she loves to be dangled upside down.

Her parents love Michaelynn and will help her grow up in a positive environment, no matter what problems they face.

Life with an autistic child isn’t something many of us will ever understand. However, you should still appreciate the beauty, patience and love that these two parents experience every day with their autistic little girl.
