They Found Her Left Hand In The 9/11 Aftermath. What Was On It Is Unforgettable.
Sonia Mercedes Morales Puopolo, an inspirational American from Puerto Rico, lost her life on 9/11/2001 but left behind something so miraculous, she changed the lives of others. Sonia boarded American Airlines Flight 11 on 9/11 and found herself sitting two seats away from terrorist Mohammed Atta, who would fly the aircraft straight into the north tower of the World Trade Center.
Her daughter Sonia “Tita” Puopolo could barely cope with the pain of losing her mother… but at ground zero, she experienced a miracle that would later save her life.
Under 1.6 million tons of rubble, her mother’s hand and wedding ring were miraculously found completely intact.
Tita didn’t know what to make of the miracle. “I meditated and thought, ‘What is the message here?’ she said. “For my father, it showed love lasts forever. And for me, I really do feel like it came back for a purpose, to share the message that miracles do happen.”
Tita began writing a book about the miracle, called “Sonia’a Ring: 11 Ways to Heal Your Heart.”
The ring was a beacon of hope and proof that miracles exist. In 2010, Tita was in a terrible car crash that put her in a wheelchair.
But her mother’s ring helped her stay hopeful, to work through her injury and find a way to walk again.
She was such a kind soul and a friend of the Clinton family.
Both in death and in life, Sonia was an inspiration. Her mother dedicated herself to the arts and became an internationally recognized leader in philanthropy and politics as well as a patron.
So even though Tita had to deal with the loss of her mother… that loss turned into something incredible.
Sometimes, it’s hard to understand why bad things happen to good people, but it’s also hard to deny that miracles exist.
