How This Spa Cleans Your Feet Is The Freakiest Thing…And It Could Make You Sick
For most of us, it’s simply a matter of time until the stress of life drives us to the spa. Don’t laugh! More people do it regularly than you might think.
But while you’re relaxing and having fun, just make sure that you understand the inherent risks of participating in certain spa treatments. I’m specifically talking about the exotic (and occasionally dangerous) things that go on in “fish spas.”
No, a fish spa is not a spa for fish. It’s a little weirder than that.
The treatment basically involves you putting your feet into a tank filled with harmless garra rufa fish. The fish then nibble away at the dead skin on your feet. For a lot of people, it’s a very relaxing experience, but there are some risks involved.
Many of these spas fail to keep the water in their tanks clean enough.
And if they’re not keeping the water clean, infectious diseases can be transmitted from one patron to the next.
If you’re okay with those risks, that’s totally fine. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you!
