Paris climate talks feature ‘Gilligan’s Island’ technology [photo]

So this bit of news caught our eye from the big climate talks going on this week in Paris. The put-it-together-yourself furniture giant Ikea is doing its part to save the planet by asking visitors to generate electricity to light up the Champs Elyses this week with pedal bikes and giant hamster wheels. For real:

Wonderful. We’re finally using the same technology invented by “The Professor” to power “Gilligan’s Island”:

Why didn’t anyone think of this sooner?

Also spotted in Paris, Ikea wind turbines and solar panels:

No word, however, if the workers have to assemble the solar panels and turbines with an Allen key:

Because that would be funny!
