RATM’s Tom Morello: Ryan is ‘embodiment of machine our music rages against’

http://twitter.com/#!/tmorello/status/236257651611287554

Aww, poor little rich “revolutionary” boy Tom Morello is in a snit because Paul Ryan likes his music. Oddly enough, this is the first lapse in judgment we’ve seen from Ryan.

Actually, @tmorello should be grateful Paul Ryan — or anybody, really — listens to the god-awful stuff he calls music.

— John Wagner (@johnwagner) August 17, 2012

Mr. Morello took to Rolling Stone (seriously, it still exists) to throw his snit fit.

Paul Ryan says he's a Rage Against the Machine fan. @tmorello says Paul Ryan IS the machine: http://t.co/w3I9wqcg

— Ron Marz (@ronmarz) August 17, 2012

It’s not very revolutionary to whine, dude. Sort of embarrassing, really.

Does @tmorello realize that by speaking out against the "Machine" he has become part of the "Machine?" Dude. STFU and play awful music.

Here is the start of the “article”; the first paragraph is the editorial note from Rolling Stone:

Last week, Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan, the Republican architect of Congress’s radical right-wing budget plan, as his running mate. Ryan has previously cited Rage Against the Machine as one of his favorite bands. Rage guitarist Tom Morello responds in this exclusive op-ed.

Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn’t understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn’t understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.

Ryan claims that he likes Rage’s sound, but not the lyrics. Well, I don’t care for Paul Ryan’s sound or his lyrics. He can like whatever bands he wants, but his guiding vision of shifting revenue more radically to the one percent is antithetical to the message of Rage.

We weren’t aware that only “the right kind” of people, who get “nuance” and stuff, were allowed to like Rage Against The Machine. Perhaps only his BFFs in the “99 percent” are allowed. All those 1 percenters who pad Mr. Morello’s own 1 percent-y coffers? Need. Not. Apply.

Perhaps he should give back their icky and “tainted” money?

@tmorello your net worth is 0.1% of Cuba's GDP.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) August 17, 2012

It gets even more hilarious, as unbelievable as that seems. He blathers on about how Ryan actually is totally rage-y, but not in the super cool way: “A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment. Basically the only thing he’s not raging against is the privileged elite he’s groveling in front of for campaign contributions.”

Oh, honey. Deluded, much? Or are you just that much of a reprehensible Liar McLiarPants? The entire op-ed shows only one thing: That Mr. Morello has become his own self-parody. Twitter users are at the ready to call out the RATM guitarist for his hypocrisy and his idiocy. His sanctimony? It scorches.

I don't think @tmorello understands that it is @BarackObama who has built up the "machine" he rages against. Ignorant celebrities…

@tmorello Nice mansion. Are any of your accountants Maoist revolutionaries too?

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) August 17, 2012

@ExJon You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones

— Emily Ann (@ThrowMoreBrandy) August 17, 2012

Hi @tmorello, whats it like raging against the rich on that pile of money you have? #hack

— Brandon Morse (@TheBrandonMorse) August 17, 2012

I want to break this down to you. @tmorello rages against the machine, then relies on the machine to sell his product to kids who ratm.

— Brandon Morse (@TheBrandonMorse) August 17, 2012

@tmorello Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I hate your music because of your love of Communism. #itworkssowellwithallitsfreedoms

— DJ Grooooot (@djb_in_cbus) August 17, 2012

Ask me how to make BIG BUX selling fake Marxism to clueless dopes with my patented Rage Against MLM system! @tmorello

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) August 17, 2012

@tmorello Does your hypocrisy taste as obnoxious as it sounds? http://t.co/MJvTI6FR

.@Devo doesn't like Romney. Rage Against the Machine doesn't like Ryan. Only one question remains: What say you, Bay City Rollers?

#RATM should be thankful for the gift of brief relevance that Paul Ryan has given them. #RomneyRyan2012

— Craigé (@CraigR3521) August 17, 2012

You'd think @tmorello would just say "thank you" and go back to counting his money … oh, and raging against rich people like himself.

— John Wagner (@johnwagner) August 17, 2012

Thanks to @tmorello I learned something today. I learned that the "Machine" is defined as "Liberty". #themoreyouknow

— EEE (@EEElverhoy) August 17, 2012

Indeed. People who actually value liberty and individualism? They are on Team Romney/Ryan. Perhaps they will also stop buying RATM albums as well. Surely Mr. Morello doesn’t want any other fans who don’t “get” the music and who aren’t the right kind of people.
