Steve Smith signs with Rams

Not too long ago, Steve Smith seemed to be one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. Then he decided to leave Eli Manning and the New York Giants to go play with Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, it never worked out too well for him.

Now he’s hoping to re-establish himself as a dominant receiving threat with the St. Louis Rams.

From NBC Sports:

Former Jets tight end Matthew Mulligan has agreed to join St. Louis on a two-year deal. The more notable name is Steve Smith, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Giants but couldn’t get on the field last year with Philadelphia.

Smith, 27 in May, agreed to a one-year deal and will look to rehab his market value on a Rams depth chart he likely envisions as easy to climb. Once one of the NFL’s top slot receivers — Smith caught 107 balls for the Giants in 2009 — his career has spiraled since microfracture knee surgery in 2010.

Smart move by St Louis Rams signing WR Steve Smith to a one year contract this gives them a veteran at the position.

Alright the Rams signed Steve Smith. Not the good one of course, but the one that was good on the Giants in '09 and injured the last 2 years

#Rams sign former #Giants WR Steve Smith. Gives Bradford another weapon to throw to with a possible addition of Justin Blackmon in the draft

I love the argument that Eli Manning is made better by his weapons…look at what Kevin Boss and Steve Smith did without him…NOTHING #Win

Snap your fingers and you missed the Steve Smith Era in Philly.. 11 catches, over $2 million dollars.. I think he'll be better in StL..
