1st and 2nd Thessalonians reference the return of Christ multiple times. Christ’s parable from Matthew 24 states that He will be gone for a long time before He returns, that the dead in Christ will rise before anything happens to us, and that we will be exempted from God’s Wrath. God is repeating the same thing through diverse mouthpieces. 1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
