Triple shooting outside Philadelphia Popeyes leaves 1 employee dead, 2 others injured
back over to you. We love to hear that, Bob. Thank you. Just about 502 on this Tuesday, developing at this hour, a triple shooting outside of fast food restaurant has left one man dead and two others injured Steve once again following this I just got an update from police who tell us all three people shot were teenage employees of Popeye’s here in the West Kensington neighborhood right at fourth and Lehi right across the street from Lehi parking. It happens minutes after Popeye’s closed for the night at 11. PM So we had three murders in under three hours We had to in the eight o’clock hour and then this shooting here. At least one of the three is dead, but it doesn’t look good for one of the others. It’s a young girl, 19, a young man 19, and another young man show all just gotten done working a long shift at Popeye’s and are in a car going home.
And when you look at all the bullet shells there, boy that looks like more than one shooter because it’s nearly 50 shots. And when you look at the car they were in. Amazingly, anybody survived because this car is hit with so many bullets through the doors and the windows and the windshield, And there you go. Front and back seats look like eight bullets into each window, at least and boy. Some of them are through the car itself. End of the backseat, too.
So a lot of ballistics for Philadelphia police and this car barely drove any further from the Popeye’s after the shooting there and you look at all the bullet shells everywhere and this just hours after the Philadelphia district attorney was just talking about how gun violence is now, on a summer surge. We talked last week with the detective who said We’re not a homicidal heatwave. The weather is still high today, and so is the homicide rate. We’re seeing terrible. Outcomes We’re seeing women shot. We’re seeing a lot of Children’s shops. We’re seeing Children shooting. We’re seeing some pretty awful stuff going on as of today, and that’s as of 87. We are at 333 homicides year today we were at 324. Last year on this date. That is an increase of 3. It is terrible. It is awful. There’s no other way to put it. We had 11 homicides in the period July the 30th through August 5th and 22 nonfatal shootings.
That number of homicides is, of course. Awful. Terrible. Yeah well, that number has now increased and you can make it up to 4% now where? At least 336 homicides for the year, if not more, have been classified as previous S cases. Special assignment now decided as EMS meaning murders just awful in these three workings, doing what they should be doing a summer job. You know, trying to have a future and not being on the street as soon as they get out of work. They get gunned down just feet from where they had just worked. And who knows what the motive could be?
This could be because each time we hear a motive like yesterday where the women were shot. We’re hearing it was over an Instagram post and those three women were also in a car, Thomas and I don’t know if you call 19-year-old women, but one of the 19, another young female shot. As we end the worst year right now, and they pointed it out yesterday by far just after one week of August, not even close to a full year, the worst year ever for women being shot and killed here in Philadelphia by leaps and bounds over any previous year.
Thomas this 2022 is off the charts for all the detectives and all the folks in the district attorney’s office. Just trying to kee.
